My mother, my best friend, and now my angel
I've not loved anyone in this world more than my mother. For as long as I can remember, she (and our family) worked to help those in need. Some of her volunteer work includes: Mentor to an at risk child, writing checks to pay for heating bills for families who couldn't afford it, raising money to help children who were sexually abused, bringing large print books to individuals who could not leave the nursing home, folding and sorting clothes for the migrant workers...to name just a few. She was a pioneer in taking care of our Mother Earth - long, long, long before recycling became 'cool' she found a local recycling program and drove her paper/cans/plastic to them every couple of weeks. For Christmas, I will always remember her giving us Fair Trade items because she wanted to give the individuals who crafted the items a chance at a productive and happy life. I can't think of anyone else in the world who has inspired me more than my mother. As I end this, I can only think of her request at her memorial service which was printed on the program. it read, "In lieu of flowers or monetary donations, Millie asks that we all love one another and make peace with one another" She was this worlds true humanitarian. I love you Mom.
