Our innovative collection of handmade silver, brass, and copper jewelry is crafted by some of South Asia’s first women metalsmiths - because the profession is traditionally practiced only by men. Your purchase empowers artisans who once struggled with poverty, severe discrimination, or slavery.
These courageous young women are no longer defined by the deprivation and exploitation of their pasts. Today they are glowing with joy because they get to express their creativity in a respectful and supportive work environment, and earning more than anyone in their family every dreamed possible.
"You know those lucky people, who all their dreams come true? Well, now I am one of them!" Soma

The survivors came up with the name 'Rupee earrings' for this design because "Everyone can use a few more rupees!" Working in our jewelry programs has provided many survivors with the income they need to move out of shelters and live independently for the first time in their lives. As Rani describes her new life 'Now that I earn my own living, my brothers and father no longer tell me what to do. I decide when to work, when to go out, when to watch a movie or when to do housework'. Watching movies and doing housework may not seem like monumental decisions to us, but for survivors of slavery or severe domestic violence, these simple choices are a gift which they never take for granted.
