FREEDom to Do Something Great FREEDom to Give Something Lasting
Anti-slavery activist, lawyer, mother, and friend Crystal Freed is celebrating her 40th birthday with a fundraising campaign for The Emancipation Network/Made By Survivors! 100% of the funds raised through this campaign will go to building a third floor at our shelter in Darjeeling India, to provide housing, job training and employment to survivors of trafficking.
In her own words: "On July 16, I turn 40. To celebrate this milestone, my birthday wish is to do something lasting. I have set a goal to raise $40,000 for an amazing organization that equips survivors to earn more than they could ever have imagined, thereby truly breaking the cycle of vulnerability and ensuring that they remain free!
That organization is The Emancipation Network and every penny raised goes to them. They operate as Made by Survivors but their work programs are so much more than just making stuff to sell. It was founded in 2005 by Sarah Symons and John Berger, New Englanders who now call St. Augustine, Florida home.
The Emancipation Network has a proven track record. Today, it operates programs serving hundreds of survivors in India, Nepal, Cambodia and Thailand. Over more than a decade, they have impacted countless lives. Forty thousand dollars is precisely the amount needed to expand their facility in Darjeeling, India to provide much needed housing, job training and employment to those at risk of, or forced into, human trafficking, both sex and labor.
My ancestry traces back to India and so this seems an appropriate way to celebrate not only a birthday but joining in a common purpose to make this world a better place. What better way than making a lasting impact on lives, human beings created in God’s image. I welcome whatever support you are comfortable providing for this
organization which I support without reservation. My husband and I will get the ball rolling by seeding $4,000.00".
