Management Staff

Sarah Symons, Co-Founder and Executive Director -
Sarah started MBS in 2005 with her husband John Berger.  Formerly, Sarah was a composer of music for TV and film, and before that, a counselor and art teacher at Creative Arts Workshops in New York City.   Author of THIS IS NO ORDINARY JOY.  St. Augustine, Florida.  

Paul Suit, Managing Director -   Before moving to Calcutta to work at MBS, Paul was a District Sales Manager at The Body Shop and served on their Grants Committee.  He is a lifelong advocate for women and animals, and is spearheading our vet nursing/animal care training program, among other projects. Calcutta, India.

Soma Seal, Program Manager and Social Work Supervisor - In addition to her counseling, training, translation and management roles, Soma is a gifted jeweler and designer!  In her spare time, she runs House of Hope, a sewing project providing much-needed income to women in her community.  Calcutta, India.  

 Nafiza Khatun, Program Director -  Nafiza has a degree in Business from Chandra Chowdury College and is passionate about commerce as a means for uplifting vulnerable women.  Before coming to MBS, she worked as a community liaison, computer skills tutor, and counselor at Apne Aap and Uddami. Calcutta India.

Abagail Fabiaschi, 2016 Board Chair - Was a high tech executive running global selling programs for a division of Siemens. Now a novelist (I LIKED MY LIFE, St. Martin’s Press 2017) and human rights advocate.  West Hartford, CT

John Berger, Treasurer - Co-Founder, Former Investment Banker and Certified Financial Analyst with 18 years experience in Institutional Equity Sales at Smith Barney, Prudential, and Schwab Investments. Creator of the MBS 'Prosperity Model'.   St. Augustine, FL

Diane Davalos Beale, Secretary - President of Expanded Learning, a global language instruction company, and inspiring leader of the Denver Chapter of MBS. Denver, CO

Dr. Elizabeth Swanson - Professor of Human Rights and Literature at Babson College, author of several books on torture, gender violence and human rights. Elizabeth is the longest-serving member of the Board, and attended the first ever MBS Awareness Party in 2005.  Cape Cod, MA

Peg Cafferty - Filmmaker, Screenwriter; Executive Producer of INDIA'S DAUGHTER, a documentary film about the notorious Delhi bus rape, and numerous other films.  Montclair, NJ

Todd Patkin- Author of FINDING HAPPINESS, Motivational Speaker; Former CEO of Autopart International.  Boston, MA

Jeanette Pavini - Two-time Emmy Award winning consumer and investigative reporter.  Producer - RealDeal Productions, Columnist - MarketWatch, The Wall Street Journal, Better Homes & Gardens. Jeanette made a documentary short film about Made by Survivors in 2011.  Redwood City, CA
